FROM MY WORLD
Solve the Right Problem, The Right Way
Let me share a story about a friend of mine—a therapist who dreams of starting her own practice. She's been asking me, "How do I become self-employed? How do I find clients?" Her idea? Build a website and hope the clients roll in.
Classic mistake.
So, I told her, "Pump the brakes. Before you think about a website, let's figure out the most important question: who are you helping?"
And that’s when the conversation got real.
The Specialist Secret: At first, she said, "I want to help everyone!"
Great sentiment, but here’s the hard truth: when you try to help everyone, no one hires you.
People don’t want generalists—they want specialists. Someone who knows their exact problem and can fix it.
I explained: If your car engine’s broken, you want a mechanic, not a handyman. If your Facebook ads aren’t converting, you want a Facebook ad ninja, not a general marketing consultant.
The same applies to her therapy practice.
If she’s targeting overworked entrepreneurs with burnout, her website should scream, "Are you hustling around the clock and feeling like you’ve lost yourself in the grind?" If she’s targeting stay-at-home moms who feel stuck, it should say, "Feeling like you’ve put everyone else first and lost who you are?"
Dial It In, Then Build It Out
Once you’ve nailed your niche, creating a website, landing page, or “thing” (as she called it) becomes simple. It’s not about bells and whistles; it’s about speaking directly to your audience.
You want them to land on your page and think, "Wow, this person gets me!"
The problem most newbie coaches face isn’t a lack of skills or marketing tools. It’s failing to identify their ideal market. They pick audiences that either:
Don’t want their help, or
Aren’t willing to pay for it.
I told her, “Imagine trying to sell an eight-week program to a business owner, teaching them how to motivate their employees. They don’t want to learn that—they want someone to do it for them. That’s why motivational speakers get paid five figures to jazz up employees while the boss goes on vacation.”
So, solve the right problem for the right people. Don’t fixate on the tools or “things” like websites. Focus on finding your niche and understanding their pain points better than they do.

MINDSET MAKEOVER
How Cleopatra and a 1930s Author Cracked the Code to Influence
Here’s a truth bomb for you: your name is your most valuable currency in business. Not your product. Not your offer. You.
I was reminded of this while reading a fascinating experiment conducted by a 1930s author named Jerzy Kosiński. He took the exact same manuscript and submitted it to publishers under two different names—his real name, already an established author, and a fake one, Eric Demos.
Under his real name? A bidding war broke out. The book was published by Random House and even won the National Book Award.
Under the fake name? Every single publisher—including Random House—rejected it.
What’s the lesson here? Your authority, reputation, and the stories attached to your name dictate how people perceive and act on your offers.
It’s why two marketers with the same email list and offer can see wildly different results. One gets hundreds of sales; the other gets crickets.
Over time, building your presence and reputation makes business easier. The more you show up, deliver value, and stick to your core message, the more the market trusts you.
That’s why I’ve stayed in the make money online niche for years. While others jumped to the latest trends—crypto, weight loss, Shopify—I stuck to what I know, building authority brick by brick.
But How Do You Build Authority?
Simple: tell stories.
Stories connect with people on an emotional level. Unlike cold, hard facts—which trigger skepticism—stories slip past mental defenses. They make you relatable, memorable, and trustworthy.
Take Cleopatra. History remembers her as one of the most powerful and fascinating women of all time. Was she drop-dead gorgeous? No. But she was a master storyteller. By the time a Roman emperor met her, her reputation had already painted her as irresistible.
Your stories can do the same. They create a perception that precedes you, making every interaction with your audience easier and more impactful.
Start Here:
Share your journey. Even if you’re just starting out, document your experiences.
Highlight your successes—big or small.
Let your customers spread the word by delivering results worth talking about.
Your name is your brand, your authority, and your leverage. Start crafting stories that elevate it.
Because at the end of the day, your success isn’t just about what you’re selling—it’s about who’s doing the selling.
