FROM MY WORLD
My Goldfish Memory Got an Upgrade
Earlier today, I had a problem. I was trying to memorize six key concepts from a book I’d been reading, and my brain flat-out refused to cooperate. You know that feeling when the information is right there, but it might as well be on another planet? Yeah, that was me.
Now, I’ve got the memory of a goldfish—ask my wife, she’ll confirm.
If she tells me to pick up Chris at 5 p.m., there’s a 95% chance I’ll forget. So naturally, I turned to my favorite sidekick: ChatGPT.
Here’s what I did. I asked it to help me come up with images for the concepts because visuals stick better than words. For example:
Significance: Represented by a star. You’re the star; you’re significant.
Approval: A thumbs-up emoji because we all love some validation.
Acceptance: A handshake—it’s about welcoming someone into your tribe.
But ChatGPT didn’t stop there. It leveled up the game by turning these visuals into a story. Stories, as you probably know, are the brain’s favorite way of learning.
Here’s the mini-story it came up with:
"A bright star shines over a village where the people give each other thumbs-ups and shake hands."
Boom—just like that, the concepts clicked into place.
This isn’t just clever; it’s science-backed.
Stories create connections, make ideas sticky, and help us recall things when we need them. That’s why we remember fairy tales from childhood but can’t recall what we had for lunch last Tuesday.
Now, I didn’t stop at those three concepts. There were three more, and with ChatGPT’s help, I built out the story to include those too.
My inner geek was doing cartwheels.
Here’s the deal: even though I’ve studied memory techniques, like those taught by the legendary Jim Kwik, I still lean on tools like ChatGPT to bridge the gap.
And honestly? It’s more than a memory booster. It’s my creative director, therapist, health coach, and marriage counselor all rolled into one.
Fun fact: I’ve even used it to diagnose why my stomach hurt one time. Turns out mascarpone and oysters are not a match made in heaven. Lesson learned.
So, if your memory’s a little meh like mine—or if you just want to make life easier—give this technique a shot. Ask ChatGPT to turn your ideas into visuals, craft a story, and voila, you’ll have knowledge that sticks.
What’s one thing you struggle to remember? Go ahead, try this hack and watch the magic happen.

MINDSET MAKEOVER
Cheap Ain’t Always Chic
Let me hit you with this: some people won’t buy cheap stuff even if you twist their arm. It’s not just about affordability; it’s about psychology.
Think about it.
If someone offered you a signed Manchester United jersey for $100, you’d probably laugh, right? You wouldn’t trust it. You’d think, “Where’s the catch?”
Because we’ve been wired to equate price with worth. It’s why we opt for the second-most expensive wine at dinner or add leather seats to that “budget” car.
But here’s the twist: it’s not the product or the price driving decisions—it’s the emotion behind the purchase.
When people buy, they aren’t just exchanging money for a product. They’re buying a solution to a problem, a transformation, or even a better version of themselves. Here are the four main drivers behind why people buy:
Self-Preservation – Health, security, and protection. Think insurance, health supplements, or even alarm systems.
Romance – Love, desire, and attraction. Yes, even that Harley Davidson you’ve been eyeing has a hint of romance in its appeal.
Money – The need to make it, save it, or avoid losing it. Fear of poverty is a powerful motivator.
Recognition – Popularity, style, and acceptance. That designer handbag or sleek smartwatch? It’s not about utility—it’s about perception.
People don’t pay for products; they pay to solve their problems and satisfy deep emotional needs.
So, the next time you’re pricing a course, ebook, or service, remember this: you’re not just selling a thing—you’re selling a solution, a transformation, a new identity.
And stop projecting your wallet onto your customer. Just because you wouldn’t pay $500 for a course doesn’t mean your audience wouldn’t pay $5,000 for the same thing. In fact, they might value it more because of the higher price tag.
Now, here’s your challenge: what emotional need does your product solve, and how can you highlight that to your audience?
The moment you crack that code, you stop being just another marketer and start being the person who changes lives.
