FROM MY WORLD

The $5K-a-Month Secret No One Taught You

If you ever feel like you’re stranded on a marketing island, shouting into the void, hoping your emails get noticed? Let me tell you, that’s the life of running an agency sometimes.

With my Solo Ads Agency, I email the same thing every single day. Not because I love repetition, but because that’s how an agency works.

Whether it’s the first of October or Valentine’s Day, the service is always the same. Think of lawyers, architects, or any professional just waiting for a client to show up.

The emails? They’re what I call “castaway emails”—standalone messages, each trying to grab attention but all promoting the same thing.

But here’s the twist: when it comes to promotions, we switch gears.

This is where the magic happens. Think Black Friday sales or weekend specials. Promotions aren’t just about the product—they’re about the offer. And let me tell you, a killer offer can make or break your campaign.

One of my go-to strategies? The Four-Day Cash Machine. Learned this gem from Frank Kern over a decade ago, and it’s pure marketing gold. Here’s how it works:

  1. Take a high-ticket product.

  2. Slash the price in half.

  3. Toss in some irresistible bonuses.

  4. Give people four days to grab it before it’s gone.

This formula has helped me rake in sales time and again. But here’s the thing—the offer needs to be SEXY. No lame bonuses, no ho-hum discounts. It’s about creating something that people can’t resist.

Case in point: A buddy of mine had this amazing program teaching folks how to become corporate consultants. Big-ticket stuff—companies paying you $5K a month to help them solve problems. Great product, solid testimonials.

But the offer? Flat as a pancake. $697 for a program that could’ve been packaged to look like a six-figure blueprint? Total missed opportunity.

So I helped him spice it up:

  • Adjusted the pricing strategy.

  • Added bonuses that screamed value.

  • Positioned it as the ultimate ticket to freedom.

Because here’s the truth: you’re not just competing with similar products—you’re battling TikTok notifications, cat memes, and their favorite Netflix series.

If your offer doesn’t grab their attention and hold it, they’re swiping right past you.

So, whether you’re running castaway emails or a limited-time promo, ask yourself: Is this offer sexy enough? If not, go back to the drawing board.

MINDSET MAKEOVER

Roses Are Red, Automation Is Dead

Here’s a fun fact I learned the hard way: personalization is the opposite of automation.

Let me explain. Imagine you’re sending emails to your list. You add their first name at the top of every email because, hey, that’s what all the marketing gurus say, right? But guess what?

Nobody’s impressed. Everyone knows it’s a machine doing the work. It’s lazy personalization, and people can smell it from a mile away.

Real personalization isn’t about first names—it’s about giving people exactly what they care about.

Take a page from Amazon’s playbook. Buy a book, and they’ll suggest three more you’re guaranteed to love. Buy shoes, and they’ll throw in a handbag suggestion. They’re not trying to be your best friend—they’re showing you they “get” you. That’s personalization, and it works like magic.

But let’s take it a step further. I learned this lesson in the most unexpected way: with flowers and my wife.

For years, I noticed she loved getting flowers. Big, gorgeous bouquets. So, being the systems guy I am, I automated the whole process. Every two or three weeks, my AI assistant would send a stunning bouquet to our house. Roses the size of my head. Perfect. Or so I thought.

One day, she sat me down and said, “This doesn’t feel special anymore. I know you’re not picking them out.”

And just like that, my genius automation system turned into a relationship fail.

Lesson learned: People value effort over efficiency. My wife didn’t care about the flowers; she cared about the thought behind them. A $15 bouquet I grabbed on a whim meant more than the most extravagant automated arrangement ever could.

The same is true in marketing. Real personalization means effort.

Look at Ryan Levesque and his “Bucket” system. He’s the guy I’ve been chasing for years to get on my podcast (and he still won’t come on!). Ryan figured out that to personalize effectively, you need to understand your audience’s unique experiences.

Say you’re running a marriage coaching program. Your audience isn’t a one-size-fits-all group. It could include:

  • Men trying to save their marriages.

  • Women considering divorce.

  • Couples working on things together.

Each of these groups is a different “bucket.” The secret is to talk to them in their language. Men and women approach marriage differently—it’s like comparing apples and spaceships. A guy’s email should focus on fixing things with action, while a woman’s email might emphasize emotional connection.

This is personalization done right. And when you get it right, your audience feels seen, understood, and valued—which means your conversions skyrocket.

So here’s the takeaway: Put in the effort. Whether it’s picking the flowers yourself or crafting an email that speaks to someone’s unique needs, personalization isn’t about systems—it’s about connection.
