“Daddy, why did you leave me?”

I was standing in a packed room at Funnel Hacking Live, 1,100 people buzzing around me, and out of nowhere, this woman from the next table over looked at me and said, “Are you Igor?” 

I smiled—yep, it was me. 

She recognized me, the Solo Ads guy, the Czar even, from an event that wasn't even in my hometown. 

At that moment, it hit me. 

This business, this name, it’s bigger than just a nickname I gave myself to rebrand back in the day. It's now who I am.

But it wasn’t always this way. 

I built my business to six figures without ever stepping foot into an event. Yep—no handshakes, no selfies, no business cards. 

So why, you ask, did I start attending them now? Especially when my daughter, who was 4 at the time, used to ask me on FaceTime, “Daddy, why did you leave me?”

No, not just the cash to fly business class or the hotels. I’m talking about the emotional toll. 

My wife joined me on a few of these trips before, and let’s just say—it wasn’t the best idea. 

While I was schmoozing until 2 a.m., she was sitting in a hotel room feeling neglected. And my daughter? Even now at 12, she still asks, “When are you coming back, Daddy?”

So why do it? Because at a certain level, business isn’t just about who you know—it’s how well you know them. 

Deals don’t get made from a stage—they get made at the bar when everyone’s a few drinks in and the real talk begins.

But man, that trade-off—family versus business. It doesn’t get easier. 

I made some high-quality connections, sure. I have a potential JV deal in the works that could be a game-changer. But as I sit in that hotel room, thousands of miles away from home, FaceTiming my daughter—I realized something important.

The answer isn’t black and white. It’s about balance. 

I can’t deny the power of these events to open doors, but I also can’t afford to close the door on my family. The key is in picking my battles. Not every event deserves my time. 

The right event? Absolutely. But only if the people, the purpose, and the potential outweigh the personal cost.

Because at the end of the day, success without your loved ones by your side isn’t success at all.

They want instant results, yet they forget that people need pressure to move.

Here’s the truth: deadlines make decisions happen. They cut through the noise, forcing us to act, to make a choice. 

Without them? Nothing. Just endless excuses, distractions, and second-guessing.

You might be thinking, “But Igor, I don’t want to pressure anyone. That’s manipulative.” 

But let me tell you—if you’re not giving your prospects a solid deadline, you’re actually hurting them. People need a reason to act, and the more you let them procrastinate, the more you keep them from solving their problem.

There’s even science behind it. I read about an experiment where participants were given two different timeframes to write a letter—one group had a week, the other had just an hour. 

Guess what? The group with only an hour did better. Not only did they submit their letters faster, but they were happier with their results. Less time meant less second-guessing and more action.

So, what does this mean for you? Simple: you need to embrace the power of deadlines in your business and your life. 

Whether it’s making a decision to buy, or just getting yourself to finish a project you've been dragging your feet on—set a firm deadline and stick to it.  It’s not about manipulation. It’s about clarity, focus, and getting things done.
