FROM MY WORLD
How I Went From "Bar English” To “Near-Native”
I began learning English in first grade in post-Soviet Ukraine. While many schools still taught German, my class luckily learned English, although it was outdated textbook English.
My teachers had never been to English-speaking countries, so I wasn't exactly set up for success. I knew the alphabet and could read and write, but my skills were limited.
I like to call my early attempts "bar English"—a bit rough around the edges, but effective enough to get by.
When we moved to Israel, things changed.
In Israel, everyone speaks English, albeit a broken version I humorously call "Moron English." No one cared about sounding perfect. They just communicated.
When I entered the world of affiliate marketing, my English had to level up. I needed to write articles, emails, and film videos.
You can find some old videos of mine on YouTube that are pretty embarrassing because my English was so bad.
An English teacher once told me that to learn English, I needed to write and read a lot. Watching movies wasn’t enough; engaging through writing and reading was crucial.
A significant turning point was working with my mentor, Roz Bowering, from Manchester. He pointed out that my English was too direct a translation from Russian. He taught me to rethink my sentence structure and word choices, which was a tremendous help.
The biggest leap came when I started coaching and spent hours on the phone with Canadians, Americans, and Europeans.
Speaking with native speakers for at least five hours a day was a game-changer. I copied how they spoke and over time, I got a lot better. Immersing myself in an English-speaking environment made a huge difference.
The key to mastering any language is immersion.
My brother never mastered English despite private lessons because he lacked consistent practice and immersion.
Now, living in Canada, I think in English most of the time. When my kids ask me challenging questions in English, I find myself formulating answers in English. It's a mental shift that happened gradually, but now English feels natural to me.

LESSONS FROM LEGENDS
Two Dads, Two Paths
There's a gaping hole in our education system, a missing piece that could unlock a world of opportunities – how to handle your money?
That's exactly how Robert Kiyosaki, the author of Rich Dad Poor Dad, felt.
He had two "dads" growing up. One believed in a steady job and a good education, the other taught him about investing and starting his own businesses.
Imagine the difference in those life lessons!
Kiyosaki realized something big: understanding money is like having a secret superpower. It's not just about earning more, it's about making smart choices with what you have.
It's like the difference between working hard to fill a leaky bucket, or learning how to patch the holes and watch your wealth grow.
Think of it this way: what if your money worked for you, instead of the other way around? That's what Kiyosaki wants us all to learn.
It's about finding ways to make your money earn more money – through investments, owning property, or even starting your own business.
Kiyosaki's message is like a wake-up call.
It's time to stop letting money control us and start learning how to control it.
Imagine a life where you're not just working to pay the bills, but building a future where your money works hard for you, even while you sleep. That's the power of financial education.
So, take the first step towards a brighter financial future. It all starts with learning.
Pick up a book, attend a seminar, talk to someone who knows about investing. Remember, the journey to financial freedom begins with a single step – and that step is education.
MINDSET MAKEOVER
Too Good to Be True
One of the most powerful habits I've developed in my marketing journey is the principle of over-delivery—giving more than what people expect.
This mindset shift has been a game changer for me, and it can be for you too.
Consider the concept of value. Imagine walking into a Toyota/Lexus dealership. It's one of those "today only" sales, but we all know it will be there tomorrow too. Now, picture being offered a new Camry, typically $20,000, for just $10,000.
On top of that, they throw in a Boss stereo system, racing skirt, and a luxurious leather package. Sweet deal, right?
But it gets better. If you sign the dotted line today, they'll also throw in a 1998 collectible Rolls Royce Phantom. Anyone with half a brain would think, "Wow, this is incredible!"
Even if you don’t plan to drive the Camry or Rolls Royce, you could sell the Rolls Royce for a ton of money and still be in profit.
At first, this sounds far-fetched and unrealistic. Who's giving a Rolls Royce as a bonus with a Camry?
But here's the deal: while you can’t do this with cars, you can with intangible items.
The goal is to create a sense that the customer is paying a tenth of what the product is worth.
Make them feel like they’re getting ten times the value for their money, almost guilty for cheating you.
Achieve this, and you'll see a ton of sales.
This principle of over-delivery says, "If you're willing to trust me with your heart and wallet, I’ll make it so good for you that you'd be stupid not to say yes."
The greatest marketers excel at this. It’s not just about understanding your market or knowing what they want, but crafting a package that makes them think, "I’d be an idiot to walk away from this deal."
It's a skill worth honing. Over-delivery ensures you'll always be able to put bread, milk, and bacon on the table.
