FROM MY WORLD

What a Hostage Negotiator Knows About Email Marketing That You Don’t

Ah, the dreaded unsubscribe button.

For most email marketers, it’s the digital equivalent of getting ghosted—harsh, unexpected, and a little bit soul-crushing. But here’s the kicker: unsubscribes might not be the villain you think they are.

MailChimp did a study that blew my mind.

Turns out, email lists that blast out emails daily actually have a lower unsubscribe rate than those sending emails once a month. I know, right?

Logic says the more you email, the more people would get annoyed and leave. But the truth is, by the time your once-a-month email lands, your subscribers are scratching their heads, wondering, “Who the heck is this guy again?”

In today’s world, where inboxes are busier than Grand Central Station at rush hour, emailing every day isn’t just a preference—it’s survival. Out of sight, out of mind.

Now, unless you’re a best-selling author (shoutout to my own book 📚), or you have Oprah-level recognition, you can’t afford to disappear for weeks at a time.

Before I published my book, I made sure to email my list at least once a day—sometimes even twice. Why? Because staying top of mind is EVERYTHING.

But here’s something even juicier: just because you email daily doesn’t mean everyone reads every email.

Most people skim their inboxes like they’re playing whack-a-mole. They’re not diving in to find gold—they’re scanning for what to delete. It’s easier for their brains (and gives them a little dopamine hit) to say “nope” than to commit to a “yes.”

Chris Voss, in his game-changing book Never Split the Difference, talks about how it’s easier to get people to say “no” than “yes.”

Why? A “yes” feels like a big, scary commitment, while a “no” feels safe, freeing even. His advice for negotiators applies perfectly to emails. Instead of worrying about every email being ignored or deleted, think of your daily emails as opportunities for them to say “no” until the right one comes along—and they finally say “yes.”

Your emails are like buses—miss one, and another one is already pulling up.

Keep emailing. Keep showing up. And don’t sweat the unsubscribes—they’re just clearing the lane for the people who actually want to hear from you.

The Secret to Success Isn’t What You Think

What if I told you that your success isn’t about what you sell, how good your pitch is, or even how much traffic you drive? The real secret? It’s YOU.

Developing a magnetic personality can transform your business faster than any new hack, tool, or strategy.

But this isn’t about faking confidence or learning to schmooze—it’s about rewiring your inner game to naturally attract people who want to work with you, buy from you, and follow your lead.

Here’s the blueprint:

Step 1: Work on Yourself First

Success isn’t about chasing what you want—it’s about becoming the person who naturally attracts it. That starts with your mindset.

Read daily. Feed your brain the stories of others who started with nothing and built empires. The result? Your confidence skyrockets, and people start noticing you in a whole new light.

Step 2: Build Confidence by Taking Action

Confidence isn’t something you’re born with; it’s something you earn. And you earn it by celebrating your small wins.

Did you make your first $100 online? Celebrate it like you just hit six figures. Record a video, share it with your list, and let the world know. Gratitude breeds success, and confidence is contagious. When you believe in yourself, others will believe in you too.

Step 3: Repetition is Key

Success doesn’t come from doing something once—it comes from doing it over and over. Whether it’s reading the same life-changing book for the fifth time or refining your messaging until it clicks, repetition builds mastery.

Every small action you take reinforces your belief in yourself. And that belief radiates out, drawing the right people to you like moths to a flame.

Why This Matters

Your personality is your strongest asset in a world full of “Joe Marketers.”

When people feel a genuine connection with you, they’re not just buying a product—they’re buying into YOU. That’s the kind of loyalty and trust that leads to long-term success.

So, here’s the big question: Are you ready to become magnetic?
